What is Freeze Marking?

Freeze marking is quite unlike existing methods of hot branding, hoof marking or lip tattooing. A super-chilled marker is applied to a clipped well-muscled area on the left side of the horse, killing the pigment cells in the hair, which re-grow, white within a few weeks. This leaves a distinctive and permanent mark on the animal, which can be recognised at a glance by owners, traders, auctioneers, or the police. Light coloured animals can also be marked successfully using the same method but producing a bald mark, which is usually placed on the shoulder. This method has been in use in other counties for years to help in the prevention / recovery of stolen horses.

What is Micro Marking?

A Micro Mark is a small 1.5" symbol we freeze mark onto horses that have a microchip. This identifies the horse as being micro chipped deterring thieves. Plus, if the horse is stolen or goes missing, Gardai, etc know to scan it for owner information.
