A unique number marking is allocated to each animal and full details of each animal are recorded, together with subsequent changes of ownership. The information contained in the Register is available to Gardai stations throughout the country seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, to assist in the tracing of lost or stolen horses. We also accept equines and other animals that are security marked in some way on our registration support system, ie: tattooed or hoof branded.

To keep our national register current, we have a registration form for new horses, or ones that have new owners. The seller/current owner should sign one of these forms and give it to the new owner of the horse. Please click here for the download:
